Posted: Feb 28, 2023
As an Indigenous owned law firm, Stevens & Company is deeply disturbed and saddened by the recent news of the discovery of the remains of more children in the territories of the Nuu-chah-nulth people of Vancouver Island. We stand in solidarity with all Indigenous families who have been impacted by the residential school system and offer our prayers to those who attended Alberni Residential School, the Nuu-chah-nulth people, and the Tseshaht Community.
Stevens & Company's Jennifer Trotti has stated, "We at Stevens & Company are deeply saddened to learn of these disturbing new revelations of the discovery of the remains of more children in the territories of the Nuu-chah-nulth people of Vancouver Island. We offer our prayers to all indigenous families with children who went to Alberni Residential School, the Nuu-chah-nulth people, and the Tseshaht Community. We will continue to pray for them in the days ahead as they continue their search for children on the property."
As a law firm committed to serving Indigenous peoples, we recognize the ongoing trauma and pain caused by the residential school system and its legacy. We stand ready to support Indigenous communities and families in any way we can, including through legal advocacy and support.
